TRACE may process account information such as your email address, username, display name and profile photo, plus optional profile information you choose to add.

We also process content you create or send through TRACE, including posts, Traces, comments, reactions, messages, media and Time Capsules, as required to provide those features.

Story location is text you choose to provide and does not become Journey location data.

For a new Trace that uses device location, TRACE is designed to reduce precision before storage. Exact GPS coordinates are not stored. Coordinates are rounded to an approximate area before reverse geocoding and before being used for Journey or related statistics.

A normal post does not use device GPS for Journey or Chain purposes.

Information is used to create and secure accounts, provide profiles and social features, deliver messages and Time Capsules, display content, operate Journey and Chain features, prevent abuse, troubleshoot the service and improve reliability.

Verification emails are sent through the email delivery provider configured for TRACE.

Profile information and content you publish publicly may be visible to other TRACE users according to the feature and visibility rules.

Direct messages and Time Capsules are intended for the relevant participants or recipients and are not presented as public content.

Do not place information in public content that you do not want others to see.

TRACE relies on infrastructure and service providers, including Supabase for authentication, database and storage functions and Resend for account verification email delivery.

These providers may process the information technically necessary to deliver their services under their own security and privacy obligations.

Information is retained for as long as reasonably needed to provide TRACE, maintain account and content features, protect the service, resolve disputes and satisfy applicable legal obligations.

Some data may remain temporarily in backups, logs or linked records after deletion where technically or legally necessary.

You can change profile information through TRACE features that provide editing controls.

Where account deletion is available, TRACE will process deletion subject to technical dependencies, safety needs and applicable retention requirements.

Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability or objection regarding personal data.

TRACE uses access controls and service-provider security features intended to protect information, including authenticated access for private storage where the feature requires it.

No online service can guarantee absolute security, so keep your password secure and report suspected account misuse promptly.

TRACE is not intended for anyone below the minimum age required to use an online service under applicable law. If a legally required parental or guardian authorization applies, it must be obtained before use.

Because TRACE is intended for an international audience and uses online infrastructure, information may be processed in countries other than your own, subject to the safeguards required by applicable law and the relevant provider arrangements.

This Policy may be updated as TRACE changes or privacy requirements evolve. The current version and update date will be published on this page.
